MEMBERSHIP!
P.R.U.M.A. would love to have you join our Association. The membership of this association shall consist of men and women eighteen (18) years old of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and shall be given then all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to members of this association according to the bylaws. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its policies and admission policies however, whose goals should be to protect and reserve the rich cultural heritage of our Puerto Rican ancestry and to foster our culture for future generations.
To be a member of P.R.U.M.A. you need to be at least 18 years of age to receive the Death Benefit. Applicants beyond the age of 55 may be eligible for membership and the Death Benefit under the following conditions:
A. They must be in average or good health.
B. Physical examination may be required with no expense to PRUMA.
C. Their death benefit will be structured on a sliding scale as follows:
i. After two years of membership in good standing $100.00
ii. After three years of membership in good standing $125.00
iii. After four years of membership in good standing $160.00
iv. After five years of membership in good standing $203.00
v. After six years of membership in good standing $249.00
vi. After seven years of membership in good standing $297.00
vii. After eight years of membership in good standing $347.00
viii. After nine years of membership in good standing $399.00
ix. After ten years of membership in good standing $453.00
x. After eleven years of membership in good standing $508.00
xi. After twelve years of membership in good standing $600.00
(Please NOTE: New members joining after 1/1/08 will no longer be receiving a Death Bennefit. The Death Benefit will still be available for members in good standing prior to 1/1/08.)
Applicants for regular membership of a married couple shall be accompanied by and entrance fee of five dollars ($5.00) and a monthly due(s) of six dollars ($6.00) preferably paid on an annual basis. Unmarried or single applicants shall pay half of the amount.
Members are asked to attend a monthly meeting held on the third Sunday of each month at the P.R.U.M.A. Center at 616 “E” Street, Union City, CA.
